October 2014 Event: Tales from the Crypt

talesEventbrite - Tales from the Crypt

“Resiliency.” The dictionary defines it as: “the ability to recover quickly from illness, change, or misfortune.” Entrepreneurs know it as an indispensable attribute—a prerequisite for starting and nurturing a business—because no matter how brilliant the concept or astute the strategy, tough times come to us all. And true success over the long haul belongs to those who have the fortitude, confidence and can-do spirit to turn challenge into opportunity. At our Halloween-themed event, you will hear firsthand accounts of often scary experiences of businesses large and small, direct from the founders and executives that fought their way through the horror… …and lived to tell the tale!

Thursday, October 30th 5:30 – 8:00 pm

C-leveled 4117 Liberty Ave. Pittsburgh, PA 15224

Michael Annichine CEO, C-leveled

Mike has 20 years of experience in developing local and national businesses and served as the Director of Investment programs for the Pittsburgh Life Sciences Greenhouse. Annichine is the founder of CFS Home Loans and also served as CEO of FlyerCity Media. While at FlyerCity Media, he led in the development of the mobile app, “MetroMe.” He is a member of the Three Rivers Entrepreneurs and on several local boards including: the Pittsburgh Charity Classic, Autism Center of Pittsburgh (ACP), and the MIT Enterprise Forum Pittsburgh. Annichine is committed to helping small companies and non-profits raise money and awareness locally to enhance the Pittsburgh community.

Roger Byford Byford has an MA in Electrical Engineering from Cambridge University. He held technical and managerial positions at the BBC and Westinghouse before founding Vocollect, Inc. in 1987. Roger was the Chairman of Vocollect from its founding until the company’s sale for $190M to Intermec in 2011. He was CEO for most of the company’s history, and successfully raised funds from angel investors, institutional VCs, strategic investors, mezzanine debt lenders and private equity. Roger was responsible for a company “pivot” in 1996, which resulted in a focus on the warehouse, in which he grew the company both domestically and internationally. In addition Roger led a team dedicated to finding new markets for Vocollect. He selected a company to acquire, led the acquisition, and ran the entity for a time after the acquisition. Today Vocollect Healthcare Systems has annual revenue of over $20M and is growing at more than 100 percent per year.
