While, generally speaking, mice could be found to be “cute” little fellas, yet, they pose a certain, and in some cases big threat to our home and our well-being. They are small, curious and fast little things, running around and leaving their droppings everywhere, they do cause damage. To reduce the amount of damage, or bring it to none, you will need to do everything you can to get rid of mice.
How To Get Rid Of Mice Naturally
One of the best ways is to get a cat, not just any cat, but the one that will hunt and kill mice. Cats that love outdoors are the best hunters; they own just the right set of skills to catch mice.
Cut off their food supply. Yes, they love food, and you should know that even a little tiny piece of food is very attractive to mice. Always keep your trash containers sealed, your food properly stored, and your garage doors closed. They always find a plenty of food inside the garage.
Make your home mouse-proof. To proof your home, you need to watch out for any openings which could lead mice into entering your home. Mice are small enough to get through a hole the size of a dime. Check for any cracks on your foundation and for any rotten wallboards.
Get some fox urine. By sprinkling some urine in and around your home, you will be able to keep mice away, since a fox is known to be their natural predator. You will make them believe that a fox entered their territory, and they might try to get the heck out of there in a jiffy.
You can make a good use of bay leaves, not for cooking only, but for mice repelling too. Try placing some leaves inside your home in the areas best known for mice trespassing. They can’t stand it!
If you followed step #1, then you should have a tub with used kitty litter. Place it near the entrance of your home, and mice will be willing to leave your premises in no time.
Keep the inside and outside of your home clean. Get rid of any clutter in your basement, storage room, or pantry. Outside: pick up any piles of trash or junk and lumber. Try to keep any of your woodpiles 12” above the ground. Keep the grass mowed regularly. Get rid of any weeds or excessive vegetation. In other words, make you home less attractive to mice.
Place some snap traps lured with peanut butter along the wall, between the habitat of mice and their food source. But if you have pets, place traps in such a way so they don’t get injured.
Now that you know how to get rid of mice naturally, all you need to do is to actually put this knowledge in good use. Good luck, and may the wisdom and courage be with you!
